Arts in Bartlett sponsors a new exhibit, "Capturing the Beauty of Taiwan: Photography from 2016 Visit," during the month of November at the Bartlett Village Hall 2nd Floor Gallery, 228 Main St., Bartlett. Gallery hours are: 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays.

Police: Elgin man charged after pellet gun threat

A 20-year-old Elgin man faces up to a year in jail -- and perhaps a return trip to prison -- after police say he threatened another man with what appeared to be a handgun last Friday. Tomichael L. Maye Jr., of the 300 block of South Belmont Avenue, is charged with aggravated assault stemming from the Nov. 4 altercation in Bartlett, police said.

Hindus across North America, including thousands in Chicago's suburbs, took part in Diwali celebrations Monday like the one at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Bartlett, to demonstrate the triumphant fight of good over evil. With its overall message of "In the joy of others lies our own," the annual festival of lights started with song and hundreds of handmade food dishes on display.

Fox Valley schools see modest increases, huge dips in PARCC scores

Schools across the suburbs saw declines in scores on 2015-16 Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers test given this spring to third- through 10th-graders for the second year.

Suspect in Bartlett man's murder skips court hearing

A man accused of covering up the murder of a Bartlett man, who went missing in August 2014, skipped court this week. And the man accused of killing Keith Crawford, 36, supposedly threatened Crawford's mother before his death, Kane County court records show.
